It’s time to curtail the camera love!

Camera Love

We went on a short trip to hills last week and as usual, I was busy taking pictures in my phone.

I asked my driver to stop car at various picturesque spots so that I can click more and more photos. From snow-clad mountains to snow-tipped trees, from beautiful lights to fascinating sunset, I tried to capture everything.

When I was asked my elder daughter to get clicked with the beautiful scenes I was capturing, she said “Mom, please let me enjoy the spectacular view of nature. Your camera won’t be able to give justice to the captivating beauty which I can see through my eyes.”

Further she said, “Mom we just need one-two photographs to cherish, but trust me, this whole experience is just too beautiful to forget.”

I was dumbstruck.

I hadn’t thought like that ever. I was always busy in capturing the moments rather than living in the moment.

I pondered over our conversation & here are few things that I could gather & conclude.

  1. The beautiful memories that we can capture in minds and hearts; can never be replaced by photos we take in cameras.
  • While we are busy in creating memories for future, we forget that life is now, in the present.
  • We forget that the more we try to capture, the more we spoil the present moment.
  • Let’s be like a child and free ourselves from the burden of clicking all the time and enjoy life.
  • Maybe we click more pictures as it has become very easy. All you need is a phone, unlike earlier where there were limited count of photos you could click in a film. Also, it has become a fad and we are so irresistible to keep on capturing what we see, all the time. It has become an addiction for most of us.
  • Our phones are always overloaded with pictures, which we might not be able to see even once; before we transfer them to our hard drives.
  • Instead of observing and admiring the beauty of what we see, we start clicking pictures as soon as we reach a point. Seems we have just visited a place to take photos and not to take the feel of it.
  • What are we taking so many photos for? The social media? To tell people where we are and how we are feeling? We must stop doing that and give our full attention to people with us and around us. When we are fully engrossed in observing rather than clicking, our brain captures the moment forever.

How we behave today and what we do today is what our children are going to copy and learn. It is our responsibility to teach our children the right ways to live and enjoy life.
